Chapter Sixty-eight

All the troops, whether on the ground or in space, watched the fireworks with growing fascination. They watched as their ships fell out of the night sky, made a single pass and then rocketed upward, disappearing in seconds. The light show was impressive, the colors extraordinary. There was a laser net over the Citadel but it couldn't stop the fighters or the weapons. They danced and flashed and strobbed, but the weapons still penetrated, hitting the top and sides of the Citadel, caving in parts of it.
