Chapter Sixty-two

On the ground, outside, the soldiers who ringed the Citadel saw a sudden burst of firing from it but they saw no overhead threat. The fleet that Monier envisioned was only visible on the sensors of the computers in the Citadel. In orbit, the Colonel's staff noticed the sudden increase in activity but didn't know what it meant. The consensus was that the Citadel was engaging in a "mad minute" when everyone got had the opportunity to fire his or her weapons to make sure that it worked.
